Apprenticeship as electronics specialist in motor technology

A craft with a future? For decades!

Among the many familiar brands and companies we encounter every day, industrial electric motor manufacturers like MENZEL probably don't spring to mind straight away. And yet modern drive technology is genuinely fascinating – in every sense of the word. Without electric motors, nothing runs: no industry, no infrastructure, no energy transition. That's exactly why technical careers in this field are real future-proof jobs.

An electric motor runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When it fails, entire plants grind to a halt. Someone who can fix that will always be in demand. – Simon Czogalla, Head of Training

What to expect:

The apprenticeship at MENZEL is varied, hands-on, and anything but repetitive. You'll rotate regularly between departments and learn the craft from the ground up:

  • Like Lego Technic, but with even more tech: assembly and disassembly of all kinds of electric drives
  • Works or doesn't: testing electric motors, diagnosing faults and systematic troubleshooting
  • Precision work: manufacturing and inserting wire coils (the heart of every motor, wound by you)
  • Goggles on: welding, turning, milling, machining (real metalwork on real machines)
  • Pack your bags: commissioning at customer sites across Germany and worldwide (voluntary, but unforgettable)
  • Your project: taking ownership of your own project from the 2nd year of training (real responsibility)

What's in it for you:

  • IG Metall pay scale: attractive wages plus holiday and Christmas bonus
    1st year: €1,272/month
    2nd year: €1,335/month
    3rd year: €1,402/month
    4th year: €1,461/month
  • Work-life balance: 35-hour week and 30 days of annual leave
  • Job security: real prospects for permanent employment and career development
  • Learn at your own pace: option to shorten the 3.5-year apprenticeship
  • Voluntary trainee exchange: three weeks of on-site customer maintenance with our subsidiary Pawils (Peine, Hannover), accommodation and board covered by MENZEL
  • Block learning: alternating model of 4 weeks at school and 4 weeks on the job

What you bring to the table:

You like to roll up your sleeves and don't give up when things get tricky? We invite all our future apprentices for a trial workday – a chance to get a feel for life at MENZEL and see if our apprenticeship is the right fit for you.

  • Secondary school qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong results in maths and physics (grade 3 or above)
  • Interest in technology and a passion for hands-on work
  • Attention to detail, curiosity and a love of teamwork
