Asynchronous squirrel cage motor with open-circuit ventilation (IC 01 + IC 06)

MENZEL asychnchronous squirrel cage motors have a modular structure. This makes a number of cooling types and protection classes possible, as well as various mounting options. The basic design of our modular AC squirrel cage motors is standardized, and always identical. This means reduced production costs, and at the same time, a sophisticated and repeatedly proven design. Individual adjustments are possible at any time.

The innovative technology of our modular squirrel cage motors sets technical standards in terms of dimensions, power, efficiency and reliability.

All of our electric AC motors with squirrel cage rotors comply with the current European Standards EN60034 and IEC60034 and undergo a thorough factory test in our on-site test area. For each motor purchased from MENZEL, a relevant test report is prepared and added to the documentation before delivery. Further tests such as full-load testing, heat testing, shock pulse testing, etc., can be carried out at our Berlin site on request. 

MENZEL open-circuit ventilated squirrel cage motors are also suitable for operation with frequency inverters. We are pleased to offer you the complete system solution, i.e. the made-to-measure combination of motor, starter, frequency inverter and plant engineering. The perfect matching of our products ensures the long lifespan of your industrial plant.

The squirrel cage motors described here are used by default in the IM B3 and IM V1 models (horizontal or vertical position). Special designs, e.g. IM B35 (with foot and flange) or IM V15 are available on request at any time.

The terminal boxes of our open-circuit ventilated squirrel cage motors are mounted on the “right” or on the “left”, according to the customer’s requirements. We can produce special terminal boxes (e.g. with phase separators, special dimensions, etc.) or single-phase plug-in systems at any time on request. The terminal boxes can, in principle, be rotated by 4 x 90°. The paint work of our motors typically corresponds to the “moderate” climate group. Several special paints are available on request.

MENZEL IC 01 and IC 06 motors are available in construction types IM B3, IM V1, IM B35, or IM V15, pursuant to IEC 60034-7. In addition, we are always in the position to create special constructions for you. Our IC 01 and IC 06 motors have stable welded steel housing with integrated footplates. This housing design guarantees maximal torsion resistance and optimal cooling. The housing and laminated stator core are processed with low tolerances, which results in particularly low thermal resistance at optimum power utilization.

MENZEL open-circuit ventilated cage motors are designed pursuant to protection class IP 23. Different protection classes are available at any time on request. The humidity-protected motor winding is designed to withstand the highest mechanical stresses. Restarting against a residual field of 100% following a power failure is possible at any time. The insulation materials used for the insulation of the windings are assigned to thermal class “F” pursuant to EN 60034, and are produced by means of a VPI process. The thermal utilization of the motors takes place within thermal class “B”. This results in a reserve capacity that ensures resistance to ageing. 

Standard MENZEL motors of cooling types IC 01 and IC 06 are fitted with lubricated roller bearings (incl. lubrication device). On request, we can also provide motor designs with self-lubricated or externally-lubricated slide bearings. In our motor production, we only use high-quality bearings and lubricants from renowned manufacturers.

Our AC squirrel cage motors fulfill all the basic specifications of vibration level N (normal), in accordance with EN 60034-14. Vibration measurement is carried out in no-load operation, at the nominal voltage and nominal frequency. The balance quality of the motors is essentially “half-key”, but we can also implement “full-key” balance quality for you on request. 

MENZEL squirrel cage motors of cooling types IC 01 and IC 06 are basically fitted with standstill heating (230 V/1~) incl. a separate terminal box. Standstill heaters with deviating nominal voltages can be produced at any time. In addition, our open-circuit ventilated squirrel cage motors are designed with temperature monitoring for winding and bearings, as well as mechanical SPM measurement taps for recording vibration values (Pt100 resistance thermometer (RTD) in the stator winding, Pt100 resistance thermometer (RTD) in the bearings, SPM measurement taps). We also have a wide range of additional accessories available on request.
