Asynchronous squirrel cage motor
Asynchronous squirrel cage motors of cooling types IC 01 and IC 06 (open-circuit ventilation) have very compact dimensions, and are therefore suitable for installation in tight spaces.
MENZEL asynchronous squirrel cage motors (AC motors) are available with various cooling types from open-circuit ventilated (IC 01 + IC 06), to surface-cooled (IC 411 + IC 416), to pipe-cooled (IC 511) or air-air cooled (IC 611 + IC 616 + IC 666) or air-water cooled (IC 81W + IC 86W). At this point, we would like to present our open-circuit ventilated asynchronous squirrel cage motors from the MENZEL MEBKSD (medium and high voltage) and MEBKGD (low voltage) series in more detail. Our MEBKSD and MEBKGD are part of protection class IP23 and are mainly used for driving compactors and compressors, e.g. as means of cooling and pressure.
In order to better meet the requirements of manufacturers of compressors and compactors, and to be able to react quickly when faced with plant stoppages of all kinds, we store the most common designs in our MENZEL central warehouse.

Our open-circuit ventilated asynchronous squirrel cage motors of cooling types IC 01 and IC 06 are characterized by a particularly high degree of efficiency and power factor. They have a compact design, small dimensions, and a low weight. At the same time, our IC 01 and IC 06 squirrel cage motors incur low operating and maintenance costs. They are extremely reliable, and have a long lifespan even under high loads. This makes them particularly suitable for implementation in industrial facilities which are difficult to reach and maintain.

The principle of open-circuit cooling in AC squirrel cage motors (IC 01 and IC 06)
In AC squirrel cage motors of cooling type IC 01 (internal/self-cooling), heat is blown out of the motor by means of a fan which is attached to the rotor. The ambient air serves as a coolant. This kind of open-circuit internal cooling is far more intensive than surface cooling. The motor can be constructed smaller. IC 01 motors are primarily suitable for installation in clean, dry conditions.
MENZEL AC squirrel cage motors of cooling type IC 06 (external/internal cooling) have a built-in radial forced cooling fans. The cool air is blown through the interior of the motor by a forced cooling fan. If necessary, the inlet of the forced cooling fan system is fitted with a dust protection filter (e.g. high-speed inverter applications)
