Mining is a key activity in the economical income of Chile. Contributing 15% of GDP and 62% of national exports in terms of value as well as 6% of the tax income. More than 800.000 people work direct and indirectly for the mining industry in Chile which makes it about 9.4% of the country’s workforce (source: EXPOMIN).

Mining industry case study: Pit fan motors with fin cooling
One of our recent projects for the Chilean mining industry are three customised pit fan motors with fin cooling. Our engineers designed these squirrel cage motors (cooling type IC 411) in frame size 630, an extremely unusual design for motors this large.
The manufacture was complex, but the result is optimal for the constricted installation conditions in the mining industry. In order to save additional space, all connection cables are routed out of the pit fan motors and the terminal boxes are mounted outside the fans.
