Committed to sustainability: MENZEL Elektromotoren launches new solar and storage system at its production site

MENZEL Elektromotoren is taking a significant step forward in advancing the energy transition within its own operations. The installation of photovoltaic modules on the roof of the company’s production site has been successfully completed. At the same time, a high-performance storage system has been put into operation, which will make a substantial contribution to the utilization of self-generated electricity. The turnkey construction of the entire system was carried out by a specialized contractor, ensuring significantly greater supply security for the future.

The newly completed photovoltaic system comprises 1,420 modules from Trina Solar’s Vertex S series and covers approximately 6,000 square meters of roof area. With a total output of 639 kWp, a significant portion of the company’s energy demand is now generated directly on-site. Equally important is the interaction with the installed battery storage system. Three commercial batteries from Huawei’s LUNA2000 series, with a combined output of 324 kW and a capacity of 645.3 kWh, allow generation peaks to be reliably absorbed and the stored energy to be fed into production as needed. This combination enables load peaks to be balanced, production processes to be stabilized, and an autonomy rate of around 65 % to be achieved, meaning that roughly two-thirds of the company’s electricity demand will now be met by self-generated solar power.

The project has been supported by the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB), enabling the implementation of this large-scale project with state-of-the-art technology and the creation of an energy-efficient infrastructure. The storage systems also feature remote maintenance and app-based control, ensuring flexible and reliable energy management.

With this initiative, MENZEL Elektromotoren not only reinforces its commitment to sustainable energy but also sets a benchmark for forward-looking and responsible business practices within its own operations.
