From Textbook to Workbench

Together with BZO Velten school, we have launched a new project that makes physics tangible. Our goal is to connect theory and practice more closely and bring hands-on technical experience directly into the classroom.

practical relevance in physics lessons

Last week, the teachers introduced the topic of magnetism through a series of learning stations. At today’s official project kick-off, we took over the practical part: We brought motor kits, which the ninth-grade students assembled step by step in pairs working at their own pace and under guidance.

What had previously been developed in theory now became concrete. From many small, sometimes delicate components, fully functioning drives gradually took shape. The most exciting moment came when the motors were connected to a power source. Not every motor started running immediately, but that was part of the learning experience. Together with our team, the students analyzed possible causes, checked contacts, reviewed windings and corrected minor assembly deviations. In the end, most motors were successfully set in motion.

We were particularly impressed by the students’ perseverance. Despite complex components and occasional setbacks, they remained focused, solution-oriented and motivated – qualities that truly matter in technical professions.

For us, this day was much more than a school project. We saw technical understanding, teamwork and genuine interest. And perhaps even met one or two future apprentices. As a manufacturer of large industrial electric motors, we know that enthusiasm for technology grows when you get the chance to build and test things yourself. That is exactly what we aim to foster through this cooperation.
