Fully compatible replacement motor from stock
For the current project, MENZEL was once again able to deliver an identical high-voltage motor from stock. The motor type: MEBSSL630-06 with the following performance data:
- Rated output: 1950 kW
- Rated voltage:11,000 V
- Motor standard: IEC / EN 60034-1
- Frequency: 50 Hz
- Rated speed: 993 rpm (6-pole)
- Mounting type: IM 1001 (B3), foot-mounted
- Protection class: IP55
- Cooling method: IC 611 (CACA – air-to-air heat exchanger)
- Weight: 14,900 kg
The motors drive large fans at the plant and had to be 100% interchangeable with the original setup. All mounting points, alignments, and coupling interfaces had to match exactly to allow immediate recommissioning.
Custom modifications despite time pressure
Even with the tight schedule, several targeted modifications were made to the medium-voltage motor: the positions of all terminal boxes (main, rotor, and auxiliary) were adapted to the site requirements. Additionally, MENZEL equipped the motor with vibration monitoring sensors and a filter monitoring system for the slip ring compartment.
Notably, for the first motor delivered the previous year, MENZEL had even designed and manufactured special terminal boxes. Due to the even tighter schedule this time, the customer chose to forego this additional customization – trusting in the proven base configuration.
