Mathis Menzel takes over presidency of EASA’s European & World Chapter

On September 27, 2014, Mathis Menzel, CEO of Menzel Elektromotoren GmbH, took over the presidency of EASA’s European & World Chapter for the next two years, following his election by the trade organization’s council. The EASA (Electrical Apparatus Service Association) has been primarily focusing on the English-speaking world until now, providing services and maintenance for electrical machines and plants. It represents more than 1,900 companies in 62 countries, making it the world’s largest association of businesses in the field of electrical engineering and maintenance.

EASA engineers provide technical support to member companies facing specific problems and hold courses and training events, especially on the topic of explosion protection. EASA has a wealth of experience in the repair and service of electromechanical machines which is not regulated by uniform standards: the association has stored extensive documentation and databases, records of winding data, operating data of machines and gearboxes, notes about bearing lubricants, manufacturer contacts, and type catalogs – in short, everything that repair and service staff might need.

The European & World Chapter represents companies from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe including Scandinavia. Under Menzel’s presidency, EASA aims at strengthening the public perception and representation of the industry in Europe. For that purpose, the organization has recently opened an office in Luxembourg.
